The winter of 2011-2012 will probably go down in the record books as one of those CRAZY, CRAZY unexplainable weather patterns. First we had a blizzard in October, creating one GIANT mess, then the weather moderated and we've had a nice warm comfortable Fall & Winter so far.
We had a pretty green Christmas this year and in the past week we've had a little bit of snow here and a little bit there. Temps were averaging in the 40-50 degree range, nice for heating bills!! We now have an accumulated 2 inches of snow in our area with two nights of bitter cold coming (tonight & tomorrow) but for Tuesday temps are expected to go up in the 40's again and rain.
Well I suppose the snow will be gone. Maybe this is our January thaw!!
I was in central Massachusetts on Fri and temps were 41and sunny, but driving back 50 miles to home the temp dropped to 33 and was freezing rain, sleet & snow - roads were icy and there were a couple of accidents.
As we say in New England "if you don't like the weather, just wait a few minutes it'll change" I guess there is some truth to that!
