I stopped to fill up this morning and the price hit $3.83.9 cents per gallon. These price increases are very tough on me as I drive for a living delivering print media to stores and residential subscribers. The last few years have seen my profits free fall again and again as gas prices keep rising. Add to that I have had subscribers drop off at the rate of 1-2 per week - the end result is a smaller and smaller check each week.
I had heard an economist on a news program a few weeks back who stated that rising gas prices are an indication that the economy is starting to recover??? I was shocked when I heard that as I wasn't sure what economy he was talking about - it sure wasn't mine!!! As most people would agree the rising prices will cause many families to reconsider their vacation plans or not travel as far, or as much. I haven't had a vacation since 2007 and was hoping to get to the beaches in Maine maybe once or twice this year, but now I am not sure if I'll go.
I consider myself to be an average American dealing with the same problems as most Americans are dealing with. I sincerely hope that the future holds a robust recovery and that unemployment, along fuel prices begin to fall. This in my book will help our economic engine begin to run again!!!
